Big Eye Biography

Mayanja Ibrahim, widely recognized by his stage name Big Eye Starboss, entered the world on November 9, 1989, in Uganda's Kampala District, specifically in the Kawempe division. Born as the fourth child to Mr. and Mrs. Sulaiman Sempala, he was one of seven siblings.

At the tender age of 2, Starboss Big Eye faced a life-threatening incident when his family home was engulfed in flames. Despite sustaining first-degree burns, his life was miraculously spared.

His academic journey began at Kazo Junior School for primary education, followed by St. Mary's Nabweru for secondary education. While pursuing higher education at Makerere University, financial constraints led to his withdrawal after completing his second year.

Embarking on a solo music career, Starboss Big Eye debuted with the track "Flavour ya Kiganda." Subsequently, he joined the renowned Leone Island Music Empire under the mentorship of Dr. Jose Chameleone.

Within Leone Island, he collaborated on various projects, including the notable "Nkwagala Nyo Remix" with Dr. Jose Chameleone and other hits such as "Towakana."

In 2008, alongside fellow Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo, Starboss Big Eye co-founded the record label Big Talent Entertainment. During his tenure, he released hits like "Oyagala Ani" and the immensely popular "Indicator," gaining widespread recognition in East Africa.

After two years, Starboss Big Eye ventured into establishing his own music label, Big Music Entertainment. His subsequent releases, such as "Mango Juice," "Going Higher," "Nadeshi," "Already Booked," "Tusasanya," and "Self Contained," further solidified his presence in the music scene.

In 2014, Starboss held the Ekikumi Physically Fit Album Launch at Freedom City, marking a milestone in his career. The success of the event earned him a nomination for the Best Concert of the Year award at the 2014 HiPipo Music Awards.

Recognition continued in 2015 when Starboss Big Eye received the HiPipo Music Award for Best Afro-pop Artist in Uganda. To this day, he remains a prominent figure in the Ugandan music industry, contributing significantly to its vibrant and diverse landscape.
