DJ Shiru, born Kiberu Bashir, is a highly acclaimed Ugandan disc jockey who embarked on his career at the age of 17 under the mentorship of his renowned brother, DJ Rota, in Kampala, Uganda. Together, they played pivotal roles as some of the first Disc Jockeys to introduce international artists to the Ugandan music scene. Currently, DJ Shiru is the show host of the DanceFloor at 97.7 Record FM, one of Uganda's premier radio stations.
Career Highlights:
DJ Shiru rapidly ascended to become one of Uganda's top DJs, making his mark with a significant debut at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards in 2006. Throughout his career, he has had the honor of hosting and working with an impressive array of international artists, including R. Kelly, Sean Kingston, Sean Paul, UB40, Demarco, Konshens, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Busy Signal, Kevin Lyttle, Akon, Wyclef Jean, Chaka Chaka, Chico Chimola, Davido, Sisqo, P Square, Fuse ODG, Patoranking, Neyo, Kiss Daniel, Alaine, Diamond Platnumz, and various local Ugandan house artists.
Additionally, DJ Shiru has left a significant impact on the Ugandan music scene, having produced or collaborated with esteemed local musicians such as Radio & Weasle, Bebe Cool, Chameleon, Irene Ntale, Aidan Quin, Sheebah, Peter Miles, Cindy, Remah, Eddy Kenzo, Gravity, Aziz Azion, Ray S, Juliana Kanyomozi, Vinka, Jowy Landa, and others.
