Dr Hilderman Biography

Dr. Hilderman , born Hillary Kiyaga, is a versatile Ugandan musician and a qualified medical doctor. He gained widespread recognition with his breakout hit, "Double Bed Mazongoto," which became a super hit by Ugandan standards.

Hilderman, nicknamed from "Hilary the man," hails from Mpigi village and came to the city for his secondary education. He grew up in a large family of 11 siblings, with Hilderman being the fifth child. His educational journey included Kampilingisa Primary School, St. Kalemba, Mityana Secondary School, and Makerere University, where he pursued a degree in Music, Dance, and Drama. Later, he earned a postgraduate degree in leadership and management from Strathmore, Nairobi University.

His passion for music was evident from a young age, and he actively participated in various music groups during his school years. However, it wasn't until 2002, during his first year at university, that he delved into music more seriously, recording his first single. Balancing music and academics proved challenging, so he temporarily put music on hold.

In 2006, after completing his studies, Hilderman refocused on his music career. He achieved a major breakthrough with the release of "Double Bed Mazongoto," introducing him to the general public and garnering appreciation for his music.

Hilderman draws inspiration from artists like Bobi Wine and Silver Kyagulanyi, with whom he studied and saw rise to fame. Meeting celebrities at music, drama, and dance events also fueled his aspiration to become a better musician.

In his leisure time, Hilderman enjoys house parties, gatherings with friends, and watching investigative movies. He has a fondness for Nyama Kyomo (grilled meat) and is a fan of basketball, excelling as a goalkeeper and volleyball player.

Hilderman is a devout Catholic Christian and is married to his longtime girlfriend, Cissy Namuddu, with whom he has two children. He is not particularly interested in politics, as he perceives it as a complex and undemocratic arena in Uganda.

Despite the challenges in the music industry, such as fierce competition, marketing expenses, and inadequate copyright protection, Hilderman finds fulfillment in his musical career. It has provided him with the opportunity to connect with fans, support his family, acquire property, travel, and positively influence society.

Looking ahead, Hilderman aspires to help others realize their talents, promote young artists, and establish a professional band specializing in live music performances. He envisions addressing the challenges facing Ugandan music, including issues related to identity and international market penetration.
