Lil Pazo Biography

Lil Pazo, whose real name is Yasin Mukasa, is a talented Ugandan singer and songwriter. His music genre primarily revolves around reggae, and he has made a significant impact in the Ugandan music scene. Let’s delve into his life story:

Early Life and Education:

  • Yasin Mukasa was born in Kalisizo Jongoza Village, which was initially part of Kyotera District before being moved to Masaka District.
  • His father’s name was Sulaiman Ssezobwe Swabirina Nakakawa.
  • Lil Pazo attended Kayayumbe Primary School and Kabingo Primary School, where he completed his Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).
  • Later, he enrolled at St. Ssebasitiyan Bethlehem Secondary School, but due to financial constraints, he couldn’t continue beyond senior three.
  • Despite the setback, Lil Pazo’s determination led him down an unexpected path.

Chapatti Business and Boda Boda Riding:

  • When he arrived in Kampala, Lil Pazo’s older brother advised him to learn cooking. He became skilled at making chapattisRolex, and Ekikomando.
  • He worked at a chapatti stall owned by James Kawuyi in the suburb of Mutungo Biina, earning 500 shillings a day and enjoying chapattis.
  • Unfortunately, he fell victim to a scam when a friend promised him a job at the Sheraton Hotel in exchange for a fee. The friend disappeared after taking Lil Pazo’s savings.
  • Lil Pazo then turned to riding a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) in Kibe Zone Bwaise, where he faced challenges and even spent time in Kawempe Police Station due to an incident.

Music Journey:

  • Lil Pazo’s regular boda boda customers included musicians from D-Records Studios, such as Ziza Bafana and Fantom.
  • He met producers Renix and Wani, who recognized his passion for music. They helped him enter the music industry.
  • Inspired by local artists like Bebe CoolJuliana Kanyomozi, and Jose Chameleone, Lil Pazo released his first single, “Yegwe,” in 2010. He wrote the song himself, and producer Renix recorded it for free.
