Born in Buwolero village, Kagoma subcounty in Jinja, Uganda, Maro (Ronald Magada) is the eldest of 13 children to James Magada and Janet Babuleka. His father served in the Uganda Police Force. Maro's educational journey includes Nsambya Barracks Nursery School, St. Peter Nsambya Primary School, Bupadengo Primary School in Kamuli District for PLE, a year at White Land College (now Seroma College), and UACE at Buloba High School in 2006. In 2015, Maro graduated from Makerere University with a bachelor's degree in Development Studies.
Maro kickstarted his music career in 2007 while working at Cineplex Cinemas Garden City Mall in Kampala. He gained recognition in 2010 with "Toneraga" featuring Empress and Mikie Wine. Signing with "West End Entertainment" in 2011, he released "Sulabulungi," his first single under the label. Notable collaborations followed, including hits like "Biweewo" and "Genda Ewamwe." Maro's success led to his first concert at Freedom City in September 2013, and he received the Buzz Teenies Award for Best Collaboration.
Maro continued to make waves with hit songs like "Rising Star" and collaborations with artists like Navio, GNL ZAMBA, Feffe Bussi, and Gravity Omutujju. He released several studio albums, including "Sula Bulungi" (2011), "Genda Ewamwe" (2013), "Kyokoba" (2014), "Kamboyine" (2015), "Atwooki" (2016), "#89gooddecision" (2018), and "Departures" (2020).
Maro's musical influence extends internationally, with features like "Chip In" with Mark Forster and Maurice Kirya, and "Imani" by BSMG.
Maro's talent has been recognized through various awards, including Best AfroPop Song at the Uganda Music Awards in 2015, Best Regional Artiste (Central) at the same awards, and multiple wins at the HiPipo Music Awards for Best Hip-hop Song, Best R&B Song, and Best Afrobeat Song.
Currently based in Bonn Bad Godesberg, Germany, Maro Uganda continues to captivate audiences with his unique blend of music, showcasing his versatility as a musician, songwriter, and performer
