Tukundane Bonnie, widely recognized by her stage name Posha, is a talented Ugandan singer and songwriter currently residing in Kampala, Uganda. Her intriguing stage name, Posha, was inspired by her admiration for the Porsche Carrera car, a tribute to one of her favorite artists, Karl Wolf.
Born on July 14 in Kamukuzi, Mbarara, Uganda, Posha's musical journey has been marked by a deep passion for singing that began as early as her kindergarten days. Despite facing economic challenges and growing up in a large family under the care of her single mother following her father's passing in 1999 when Posha was just 8 years old, she never wavered in her pursuit of music.
Posha's dedication to her craft was evident as she entertained her family, notably her sister Nancy, who would reward her for her performances. She also shared her musical talent with her schoolmates, astonishing them with her ability to recognize and perform songs just from hearing the first beat. Her modest earnings from these performances, ranging from as little as 200 Ugandan shillings to 1,000 Ugandan shillings, helped contribute to her family's well-being during challenging times.
Unbeknownst to her peers, music served as a source of solace for Posha's family after her father's passing. She was raised on a diverse musical diet, particularly influenced by rap and RnB. This musical background not only helped her survive through high school but also paved the way for her future in the music industry.
Posha's family has a strong musical inclination, to the extent that many mistook her late father for the legendary Pepe Kalle due to his deep admiration and comprehensive knowledge of his songs. Additionally, her brother, a significant musical influence, was part of the singing duo known as Kyle and Remy Ratzy. Posha's upbringing in such a musically rich environment undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping her career as a singer and songwriter.
