Sister Charity, born Kobutungi Charity on June 7, 1980, in Western Uganda, is one of the most popular musicians and TV personalities. She is renowned for her captivating morning show "Sisimuka" on TV West, Mbarara, Uganda. Charity gained widespread recognition with her 2001 hit song "Grade." Fluent in her native language, Runyankole, as well as Luganda and English, she connects with diverse audiences through her music.
Commencing her musical journey in 2000 with the group TYE (Train the Youth Effort) band, Charity later joined Rays Band under Rasta Charz's ownership. She has actively contributed to various musical projects, notably the "Am A Ugandan" initiative, co-creating the song "Ndi Omunya Uganda" with Santana, her co-presenter and fellow musician at TV West.
Throughout her career, Sister Charity has released nine albums, including notable works such as "Grade," "Omufumbo," "Pound," and "Choice," predominantly featuring songs in Runyankole, with occasional tracks in Luganda and English.
Having shared stages with Uganda's top musicians like Nicky Jizzy, Dr. Jose Chameleone, Prossy Kankunda, and Gravity Omutujju, Sister Charity has cemented her status as a respected figure in the Ugandan music scene.
In 2011, Sister Charity was appointed as the host of the morning show "Sisimuka" on TV West, a position she continues to hold with distinction under Vision Group.
Charity's educational journey took her through Rweibaare Primary School, Rweibaare Secondary School, and Train the Youth Effort (TYE) for advanced studies. She later pursued accountancy at Mbarara Business School (MBI), earning a UNEB Diploma.
Despite challenges, including her marriage to mentor Rasta Charz, which ended in divorce in 2013, Sister Charity continues to produce captivating music. Some of her most beloved songs include "Grade," "Choice," "Nsasira," "Pound," "Nkyalimbooko," "Omufumbo," "Ekyoyine," and "Zaara" featuring Rub'een.
