Slick Stuart, born Stuart Kavuma on November 3, 1990, in Makindye Division, is a renowned Ugandan DJ and entertainer. Raised in a family deeply connected to the music scene, with his late father owning the popular Soul Disco in the '90s, Stuart's early exposure to DJing laid the foundation for his future career.
Despite facing disciplinary challenges during his education, Stuart attended Vincent Primary School, Shimon Demonstration School, East High School (Kawanda SS) for O-level, and Kabojja High School for A-level. His journey at Makerere University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology was cut short in his second year, but his knack for DJing, inherited from his father's discotheque, proved to be his true calling.
Slick Stuart's DJ career took off in 2009 when he began creating extended versions of songs and music videos, catching the attention of club DJs like Selector Jay. His breakthrough came in 2012 when Silk Events enlisted him for video mixing, and he played at the prestigious Street Jam, marking his entry into the big stage.
In 2013, Slick Stuart faced DJ Shiru in a battle at the same event, learning from the first encounter and emerging as the crowd's favorite. His career gained momentum as he ventured into collaborations with artists, inspired by DJs like Khaled and Shiru.
The turning point in Slick Stuart's career came when he partnered with fellow DJ Roja. After organizing a successful mixtape party, they officially joined KFM as the official DJs of Superstar Friday. The duo's mixtape parties became their trademark, eventually leading them to sign with NXT Radio under Next Media Services in 2018. Slick Stuart now co-hosts the evening drive show "The Transit" on NXT radio.
Despite occasional controversies, Slick Stuart and Roja have received recognition for their contributions to the music industry, winning awards such as the Buzz Teens Awards for Wickedest DJ of the Year in 2016, Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Best DJ Non-Nigerian in 2016, and Hipipo Music Awards for DJ of the Year in 2017. Their journey continues as they aim to leave a lasting impact on Uganda's entertainment scene
