Wajja Victor, known to the world as Victor Ruz, is a rising star in the vibrant tapestry of Uganda's music scene. Born on the 10th of October in 2000, his journey began in the tranquil town of Jinja, Eastern Uganda. A town where the soothing sounds of the Nile River were his lullaby. However, fate had other plans, and Victor, along with his mother, soon relocated to the bustling city of Kampala.
Life threw its challenges at a young Victor when, at the tender age of six, he lost his father, leaving his mother to raise him and his five siblings in the serene coastal town of Entebbe.
His educational odyssey took him through various stages, starting at Peterson Member Primary School for his early years. He continued his academic pursuits at Kyoga Secondary School for his O-level studies and later Mehta Secondary School for his A-levels. But after acquiring his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, he decided to press the pause button on formal education to follow his lifelong passion for music.
March 2022 marked a significant milestone as he resumed his academic journey, enrolling at Victoria University for a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration program, a promise he made to his mother to continue his education while also stabilizing his music career.
Beyond the melodies and rhythms that define his life on stage, Victor Ruz's personal life remains an enigma to many. The young artist, still in the process of self-discovery, currently carries the torch of bachelorhood. He is a proud Musoga, hailing from Jinja, a city renowned for its cultural richness.
Victor Ruz's artistic journey took flight under the Kats Music UG Record Label, owned by MC Kats, a mentor who recognized his immense talent. In July 2019, he made his grand entrance into the mainstream music scene with his debut single, "Love Legend," a song that struck a chord with fans of heartfelt love music. This marked the beginning of his compelling musical voyage.
His discography continued to blossom, featuring soulful RnB and Afrobeat hits such as "Kikomando," "Ndeese Love," "Official," and "Rebecca." These tracks resonated with his listeners, earning him a special place in their hearts.
His musical prowess didn't go unnoticed, as 2020 brought accolades and recognition. He was nominated for the Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Video Of The Year at the Buzz Teeniez Awards. That same year, Victor Ruz took home the coveted title of Most Talented Rising Star at the Hiskool Music Awards.
In 2021, he further solidified his status as a rising star by winning the Best Breakthrough Artist at the Zzina Awards and securing a nomination in the Best Contemporary Urban Song category.
Outside the music realm, Victor Ruz's charisma and influence transcended as he was named the brand ambassador for Dalausi Juice in 2021, adding a dash of flavor to his public persona. In March 2022, he expanded his horizons once again, becoming the brand ambassador for Victoria University, making a harmonious connection between music and education.
