Yvonne Starr, also known as Yvonne Mulugi, or Queen Vee, is a talented Ugandan singer, songwriter, model, and actress who has made a significant impact on the Ugandan music scene, captivating the attention of numerous music enthusiasts. Her music has gained widespread recognition, earning regular airplay on major radio stations and popular nightspots.
Starr's journey in the world of music commenced at a tender age of nine, demonstrating her unwavering determination to leave an indelible mark in the bustling and competitive music industry. As a young child, she delighted in participating in vocal and dance competitions with her friends, and her early performances took place at local nightclubs and occasional concerts. In collaboration with her friends, she established the 'God’s Generation' gospel music group, showcasing their talent in various churches across East Africa.
With Rwandan heritage, Queen Vee ventured into the modeling arena in 2013 while in Tanzania, where she achieved the prestigious title of BASATA Female Top Model. This remarkable feat occurred at an event graced by the then Tanzanian President, His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete. Her early modeling success served as a stepping stone, enabling her to secure lucrative contracts with prominent modeling agencies across Africa. Additionally, she extended her modeling career to international shores, collaborating with various modeling agencies in Germany, the USA, and France.
Returning to her Ugandan roots in 2016, Yvonne initiated her music recording endeavors, partnering with several young and talented producers in Uganda, including Witty Witty, Nash Wonder, Diggy Baur, and Andre, among others. She also had the privilege of opening for renowned artists such as Jose Chameleone, Eddy Kenzo, Irene Ntale, Sheebah, and many more. Some of her notable songs include 'Never Knew,' 'Mpambatila,' and 'Give Me Time,' among others.
