Ziza Bafana, born Richard Kasendwa, is a renowned Ugandan artist, songwriter, and guitarist. He is a dynamic performer specializing in the vibrant genres of raga and dancehall, known for captivating audiences with his electrifying performances.

The name "Ziza Bafana" holds a meaningful origin: "Ziza" is a biblical name and in Rwandan culture, it signifies someone who can advise the president. "Bafana" comes from the South African football club, Bafana Bafana. He adopted this name during a 2012 musical trip to South Africa when his friends playfully dubbed him "Bafana" after he spent time with a South African female friend. The name reflects the strength and youthfulness he associates with himself.

Ziza Bafana's musical style is marked by originality as he endeavors to infuse a Jamaican accent into his music. He predominantly sings in the Luganda language, blending it seamlessly with the dancehall genre.

Born in 1988 in Bukakata town road, Luvule Village, Masaka District, Ziza Bafana experienced the loss of his parents at a young age, prompting him to relocate to Kampala at the age of nine. He attended Bulenge Primary School, where his musical journey began as a drummer and member of the school's music club. His drumming talent earned him a scholarship that allowed him to continue his education at Kyebando P/S.

Despite his early promise, Ziza Bafana's education was cut short in senior three due to financial constraints, leading him to move to Kampala and live with his paternal aunt. His initial visit to Kampala had ignited a desire to stay in the city.

Bafana's transition to a professional music career began in 2011, and he quickly gained recognition for his unique dancehall music with lyrics influenced by Jamaican Patois. His music videos often feature scantily dressed dancers, mirroring Jamaican music culture and resonating with Ugandan audiences.

Before achieving success as a solo artist, Ziza Bafana was a member of the Back 2 Life group alongside Yiya Moze. He eventually returned to his solo career.

Ziza Bafana's music has taken him across the globe, with performances in countries such as Turkey, South Sudan, South Africa, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. His ambition is to elevate Ugandan music to international prominence through his Jamaican Patois-infused style.

He attributes his talent to divine inspiration and views it as both his source of livelihood and a means to keep his fans entertained with his distinctive dance moves.

Ziza Bafana's journey in music began in 2008, with his debut song "Ayamba" being a gospel track expressing gratitude for God's grace. He later collaborated with Yiya Moze on "Tebakulimba" before parting ways, citing differences in commitment and character.

Before pursuing a professional music career, Ziza Bafana was a dancer in church and participated in gospel crusades. It was the encouragement of a friend, Mark Africa Kirwana, that led him to transition to secular music due to the aptitude he saw in Ziza's voice.
