Laika Biography

Laika Umuhoza, professionally known by her stage name, Laika, is a Ugandan-Rwandan recording artist, vocalist, songwriter and live perfomer. She was born in Kanungu district in the Western region of Uganda but grew up in Munyonyo, Kampala.

Laika holds a bachelor's degree in accounting she completed her University education in the U.S and graduated in 2019. It was after her graduation that she decided to follow her passion for music and become a singer.

Laika has always loved music, and even as a child she dreamt of becoming a musician.

Laika released her first single titled "My Type" in 2020 after a series of several cover song performances. She gained popularity on Instagram by doing covers for songs by American singer-songwriter Lauren Hill and American-Jamaican singer Elaine. In fact she launched her music career while doing covers that she would publish on the platform where she gained a sizeable following.

Laika draws her inspiration from local female musicians like Lilian Mbabazi, Winnie Nwagi, Rema Namakula, Sheebah Karungi, and Spice Diana.

Laika also shares admiration for top Ugandan male artists including A Pass Bagonza, Eddy Kenzo, Bobi Wine, Dr. Jose Chameleone, King Saha, and Fik Fameica.

Laika is best know for her hit song, Overdose, but has also released other tracks like Netwalira, My Type, Your Body, Love Story, Overdose, Nzuuno, and You Single?

Apart from her music, Laika is also known for her stunning looks. She always receives massive praise from her online fans whenever she posts her pictures and videos on social media. She has been described by many of her fans as the most beautiful female artist in Uganda. Laika's curvy figure and ravishing beauty always leaves her fans in awe.

Recently, rumors have been circulating about a potential romantic connection between Laika and Tanzanian music sensation Harmonize, sparked by videos showing the two getting affectionate and sharing romantic moments on their social media platforms.
