Faridah Nakazibwe is a prominent Ugandan journalist who has made significant contributions to the media industry. She is widely recognized for her role as the Head of News at NTV Uganda, a position she assumed on 31 March 2021, following the departure of Josephine Karungi, who joined the World Bank as a communications consultant. Nakazibwe's expertise extends to hosting a Luganda news segment as well as the popular show called Mwasuze Mutya, which airs on both Nation Television Uganda and Spark TV Uganda. These networks are based in Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.

Early Life and Education

Faridah Nakazibwe was born in what is now known as Sembabule District, Uganda, to Hajj Shakib Ssenyonjo and Hajat Sarah Ssenyonjo. She is the second-born child among her seven siblings. Nakazibwe began her primary education at Kisozi Boarding Primary School in Gomba District. However, when the land where the school was located was acquired by President Yoweri Museveni for the Kisozi Cattle Ranch, she transferred to Bwala Primary School in Masaka town, where she completed her primary education. Her family eventually relocated to Masaka town.

For her secondary education, Nakazibwe attended Taibah High School in Kawempe, a neighborhood in Kampala, where she obtained her High School Diploma. Following her passion for communication, she pursued a Bachelor of Mass Communication degree at the Islamic University in Uganda, located in Mbale, in the Eastern Region of Uganda.

Career

After completing her studies in journalism, Nakazibwe began her professional career as a reporter at WBS Television, which has since ceased operations. Two years later, she joined NTV Uganda, where she initially served as the weekend news anchor for the evening Luganda telecast. Over the years, Nakazibwe's talent and dedication to her work propelled her career, leading to her appointment as the Head of News at NTV Uganda, a position she currently holds.

Family

Nakazibwe was previously married to Omar Ssali, a Ugandan who worked in one of the Middle Eastern countries. However, the couple separated in 2020. She is the proud mother of two daughters, and their father is Engineer Dan Nankunda, whom she met during her time at WBS Television. Additionally, Nakazibwe had a brief romantic relationship with Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, the vice chairperson of Uganda's ruling political party, the National Resistance Movement. However, this relationship ended in 2015.
