Eddy Kenzo has shed light on a distressing yet seldom-discussed aspect of the entertainment industry: unwanted sexual touches experienced by performers during live shows. The issue, which has predominantly affected female artists, has now found a prominent male voice speaking out against it.
In an interview with Galaxy TV's Nimrod, the BET Award-winning artist shared his personal experiences of being subjected to unwelcome advances from female fans during his performances.
The conversation comes in the wake of several high-profile incidents involving female artists, such as Winnie Nwagi and Spice Diana, who have had to deal with invasive and inappropriate behavior from their audiences. Nwagi's response to a fan attempting to touch her private parts made headlines and ignited discussions around consent, personal boundaries, and the need for artists' safety on stage.
During the candid interview, Eddy Kenzo revealed that he too has faced similar encounters, though from a different perspective. He disclosed that he has been a victim of unwanted sexual touches from female fans while performing both in Uganda and abroad. The singer went on to recount incidents where female fans had physically grabbed his genitals during his performances, leaving him uncomfortable and disconcerted.
"Female fans are all the same. While performing, anyone will grab your penis. I hate it," he added.
